E428 Gelatine: Halal or Haram?
Haram
A gelling protein made by boiling animal skin, bone and connective tissue. E428 (Gelatine) is haram.

Why it is haram
It is animal by definition. Unless the source is verified Halal it cannot be treated as permissible, and pork gelatine is prohibited outright. Even a 'Halal gelatine' claim needs its certificate checked.
Where you meet it
Gummy sweets, marshmallows, mousses, capsule shells.
What to do in the shop
Put it back, or look for a version that names a Halal source. E428 is not a borderline case you can read around.
